Kauai Increases Sales and Marketing EffortsMarch 30, 2005, LIHUE, KAUAI -- In response to the growing number of travelers looking for destinations that offer active travel experiences, the Kauai Visitors Bureau (KVB) has reorganized its sales and marketing department to boost awareness of the island's offerings.Kauai is known for its natural beauty and diversity of activities. Green and lush landscape run from the mountain to the sea, seamlessly matching with its people, who are deeply rooted to maintaining a rural lifestyle and feeling of Aloha. Activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, mountain tubing, horseback riding, helicopter and boat tours, off-road adventures, zipline and championship golf, provide visitors a wide-range of ways to experience Kauai and all of her splendor. The KVB sales and marketing department now encompasses three specialists with more focused responsibilities. Director of Sales and Marketing Edie Hafdahl will concentrate solely on the Corporate, Meetings & Incentive (CMI) and international markets. Maile Horner is the new travel industry sales manager. She is responsible for North America travel trade, as well as managing KVB's wholesaler contracts and relationships, and the Kauai Destination Specialist (KDS) program. Brooke Miller is the third arm of the extended team. As Sales Coordinator, Miller is the face of Kauai at consumer shows and the point person for island familiarization trips. She also takes the lead for maintaining the KVB Web site's travel trade section and the Warrior Marker program. As needed, Miller will provide support for the KDS program, travel trade shows, wholesaler participation and training. "KVB and its partners have done a great job at getting Kauai recognized around the world as a top visitor destination," said Susan A. Kanoho, executive director of KVB. "We want to make sure that everyone knows there is always something new and exciting to experience on Kauai. Our enhanced sales and marketing team will be dedicated to spreading that message through the CMI, travel trade and consumer markets; capturing those first time visitors and keep them coming back."
